The Story
Peggy was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her paintings are predominately oil on canvas, most notably wildlife and landscapes. Since retiring to Vancouver Island in 2014, she has become actively involved in the arts community, which include the Decosmos Fine Art Society, Federation of Canadian Artists - Arrowsmith Chapter and the Oceanside Community Arts Council, nurturing the OCAC Seniors Art Program and this years launch in September 2017 of the Aging Artfully program at the McMillan Arts Centre.
An early background in Commercial Art provided the opportunity to create logo and menu designs, signage, artwork for the Car-Bored Travel Game, and some funky caricatures and pet portraits. Her artwork has been commissioned by both corporate and private collectors.
Some of her work has recently been on exhibit and sold at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville, BC, TOSH (The Old School House) in Qualicum Beach, BC, Sandbar Cafe & Art Gallery and other fine establishments throughout the Oceanside Community. Delightedly she accepted an invitation from Raintree Studio and Gallery to display her work for the season which runs from May through to October. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00pm.
Opening Reception to be held May 26th, 2017 5:00pm - 8:00pm.
Peggy started her launch into "retirement" and move to the Island by enrolling in an oil painting session with Merv Brendel, has since studied at The Academy of Fine Arts and continues to attend workshops and seminars to improve technique and skill.
